Nude yoga, soul sister circles + other spiritual shit you’re curious about

nude-yoga-goddess-sister-circle There can be some resistance to exploring your spirituality as the western world we live in has typically crowded out most forms of magic play by the time we hit puberty.

While I still believe in fairies and happily play with crystals, the task to find that enchantment with life we had as kids becomes trickier the older we get if we allow the ‘real world’ to determine our attitudes for us. The exploration of Self is an endless search, a yearning, turbulent relationship and a carpet ride to adventuring home. I've 'studied' mindfulness, meditation, yoga and metaphysical texts since I was 15, as that is where my curiosity took me (and i wasn't one for sports..) but now instead of KNOWING, I long to FEEL and practice what I've learned experientially. Instead of remembering the yoga sequence, I want to teach it. Instead of understanding the law of attraction, I desire to manifest big magic. And instead of reading about vision quests, goddess groups and visionboards I want to HAVE one. I've got big fat desires to live these things in reality rather than intellectually. That’s where my experiment begins…

{ NUDE YOGA }

I have been fascinated with the divine feminine this year after a personal experience awoke the womanly truth in me to lean in to my YIN energy. I started wearing purple over brown and created a goddess group on the gold coast to intermingle our womanhood together. Nude yoga was a natural progression to try as I learn to fully embrace the beauty of my body and the power of vulnerability. Rosie Rees, Nude Yoga Instructress + Relationship Coach first found me via a Love Sex Desire podcast. Instant love. I must go to nude yoga. A month later, on her Australian tour, we sit together in an old train station in Mackay eating date rolls with our nipples free. Two hours of sacred, feminine gentleness evoked a deep wave of calm and acceptance within me. Rosie creates a space of true safety and you feel held by a greater force so you can allow to truly melt in to softness and feeling out your body. If you're cringing at the idea of this, I recommend you start small by practicing gentle stretches before bed in the nude and slather some feel-good body love affirmations on that blessed vessel of yours.

By allowing ourselves to be naked, we embody truth.

{ SOUL SISTER CIRCLES }

There are tears. There are oils burning and candles alight and importantly, there are raw desserts. Mostly, though, they are a sharespace of truth and strength and a time to settle in to the present. Everything you assume a goddess circle to be about, you’re probably right. We all deserve conscious clarity and radical connection, and as we Women have always been gatherers – it's natural for us to crave that bond with others. No matter how much we adore solitude, there is something truly magic that happens when women come together. A sense in the air that we are in our small infinite way, shifting a global perception about vulnerability, feminine energy, friendship and spirituality. This isn't a catch-up-over-coffee and whinge session, this is a deeply divine time to awaken the goddess within and feel truly supported. Delicious!

{ HYPNOSIS }

I was an insomniac as a teen. I’d read a novel in a night and feel insane as the minutes trickled by in the darkness, begging for sleep to come. My initial understanding of hypnosis was the type a magician performs on you and makes you embarrass yourself, and in the way I first received hypnosis it felt a bit like that. Monotone voice, thoughts racing within and a tad of uncertainty.. But then I would wake up! Full 8 hours of sleep! I’ve been using hypnosis for sleep for years and it’s my number one recommendation for people to give their overworked brains a rest and surrender to stopping. My favourites are included in this free app for smartphones.

{ REIKI HEALING }

I believe our bodies work as a holistic circuit. Vibrating energy. We hold our emotions within the confines of our physical body (don't believe me? Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Feel the stress relief from your tense shoulders?) What we think we become. All the bumper stickers and juicy stuff. I have had my bars run, sat in a psych chair and opened up to craniosacral therapy but I've never tried Reiki however I wholeheartedly believe in its benefits and can't wait to try for myself. Here's what my soul sister Chels had to say about her session recently:

''The biggest key thing is to enter a reiki session with no expectations and an open mind. This is where you will find the help you need. I liked her straight away and it all felt very right. Within 10 seconds of walking into her healing room, she surprised me by mentioning the the issue I was wondering about and continued to surprise me with each chakra she cleansed. I went with the flow and allowed her to perform her practice with ease, I could feel our energy exchanging. She was detoxifying different stored truths, guilts and emotions from my body while simultaneously bathing me in delicious laughter and happy high vibes throughout the session. She is the only person that has genuinely made me dreadfully cry and belly cackle at the same time - powerful stuff! She was a gift that kept on giving, for me.  I didn’t exactly go chasing a solution for my problems, but I did receive much more then I could have ever asked for. She guided me in ways that I cannot explain. But the one thing I do know, is that the universe is always working in your favour. You just need to tune in and listen for everything you need to live the life YOU want is within you. Have a bit of trust and faith, and fate will lead you to where you need to be.''
